Seeking Male Focus Group Participants

As we continue our Fond du Lac Says No More initiative focused on ending domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse/neglect in Fond du Lac County, we ask men to step forward to lend their personal insights and experiences. 

Although most men are not abusive, most violence against women and children is statistically perpetrated by men. What do the men in our community have to say about that?

What do local men know about the topic? How can they formulate solutions that will engage more men as allies? 

These are some of the things we are wondering about, and we have engaged four local men – Pete Snyder, J.J. Raflik, Kyle Jefferson, and Pete Rettler – to facilitate the remaining four focus groups to get us some answers. (Note: The first focus group was completed in March 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic shut the state down. That data will be included in the final report.)

Participants will receive a Kwik Trip gift card for their time, as well as snacks/meals as allowed by host sites.

We are seeking male-identifying individuals from all walks of life. Ideal focus groups will comprise 8 to 12 participants of varying racial/ethnic backgrounds and socioeconomic experiences. The goal is to create a space where men can feel comfortable enough to share their honest and unfiltered thoughts with other men on this important topic.

Jan. 23, 2023, 5 to 6:30 p.m., Fond du Lac Public Library, 35- to 54-year-olds

Feb. 13, 2023, 7 to 8:30 a.m., C. D. Smith Construction, 55- to 65-year-olds

March 13, 2023, 8:15 to 9:45 a.m., Fond du Lac Senior Center, 66-year-olds & up
