Badgerland Youth for Christ accepted a $4,500 grant check. The grant will support the Parent Life program, which provides mentoring and community connections to parenting teens, aged 13-19 and living in Fond du Lac. Teen mothers, in particular, are more likely to drop out of school, remain unmarried and live in poverty; their children are more likely to experience low birth weights, live in poverty and experience abuse and neglect. Parent Life seeks to provide resources so moms and their kids can overcome those negative trends. The program content aligns with our Fond du Lac Says No More initiative. It also meets three funding priorities: Education; Economic Self-Sufficiency; and Safety, Dignity and Freedom from from Violence.
