(New) “YOGA’s Way to Reduce Domestic Abuse” program

Fond du Lac Center for Spirituality & Healing

$2,600

Fond du Lac Center for Spirituality & Healing received $2,600 for a new program, “YOGA’s Way to Reduce Domestic Abuse”.  The program is designed specifically to benefit women and children who have experienced domestic violence, as well as perpetrators of abuse through the practice of yoga.

The practice of yoga strengthens a person’s will power, releases past trauma, and would enable survivors of domestic violence and personal abuse to establish a balanced and healed life.  Two main cohorts of 10 yoga sessions and six meditation sessions will be conducted — one for perpetrators who have a desire to change their behavior and one explicitly for survivors of domestic violence. Additionally, three community training sessions will be offered to area service providers in order to understand the positive effects of yoga so that they can serve as knowledgeable and supportive referral sources.
