Congratulations Judy Goldsmith!

A trailblazer, leader, and fierce advocate, Judy Goldsmith has dedicated her life to advancing women’s rights and gender equality. Honored with the Fond du Lac Area Women’s Fund Woman of Achievement Award in 2011, her impact on the feminist movement continues to resonate nationwide. Judy’s passion for justice and equality took root in the 1970s, when she co-founded the Two Rivers/Manitowoc Chapter of the National Organization for Women (NOW). She quickly rose through the ranks, becoming State Coordinator of Wisconsin NOW and later serving as National President of NOW from 1982 to 1985—leading the organization during a critical period for women’s rights in the U.S.

Her work was driven by a deep understanding of the challenges women faced, particularly working-class women like her mother. In a 2019 interview, she reflected on the barriers women had to overcome before the feminist movement, emphasizing the urgent need for advocacy, policy change, and equal opportunities. Judy’s dedication and leadership helped shape the national conversation on women’s rights, leaving an enduring legacy in the fight for equality. As we celebrate her Woman of Achievement Award, we honor a woman whose courage, vision, and unwavering commitment have inspired generations.

Congratulations, Judy! Your impact is felt far and wide, and your work continues to inspire the future of the movement!
